The Default texture pack, also known as the “vanilla” pack, is the standard texture pack for Minecraft. It is the first texture pack that players encounter when they start playing the game because it’s pre-installed and it serves as a template for creating custom textures. It was initially created by Markus “Notch” Persson, the creator of Minecraft, and has been updated and refined by Mojang and Microsoft, the companies that now own the game.
Certainly, you may have contemplated creating your own texture pack for Minecraft. One of the major challenges lies in the beginning stage, as many players are unaware of where to source textures as a foundation for their pack. However, this predicament has been resolved with the release of the original Default texture pack by some community members. The official textures of the game have been exported into a resource pack, enabling users to obtain and utilize all blocks, items, and sounds as a template for their custom texture pack.
Default Texture Pack for Creating Custom Packs
All in all, the Default texture pack is an excellent starting point for creating custom packs. Many players enjoy creating their own textures for Minecraft, either to personalize their game or to share them with others on our website. The default resource pack provides a solid foundation for these efforts, with clear, easy-to-understand textures that can be modified or replaced. This allows players to experiment with different textures and create unique, customized graphics for Minecraft that reflect their own preferences.
In general, the first step for creating a resource pack involves deciding whether you want to spend money or not. For example, you can install the free programs Gimp and Paint.net or the paid software Photoshop. Our team primarily utilizes Paint.net due to its comprehensive set of features for pixel blocks and items. Hence, we suggest starting with the free options. You may have prior experience with image editing. If this is the case, you may already utilize the professional program, Photoshop.

Where is the download button
the text is the button.
Only got this cuz I wanted to save hours of my life manually putting the sounds there, so i could just easily listen and replace sounds as I go.
moin
chest have the missing texture and banner patterns wont work? can somone help?
can i get the 32×32 resolution default 1.8 texture pack download?
What you mean is the classic Faithful texture pack. Either click on the link or use our search bar.
get faithful
i tryed to put minecraft 1.18.2 textures for 1.8.9 but it shows purple and black glitch blocks for everything please help
Why are you downloading the 1.18.2 version? The new textures do not work in old versions. If you are playing with 1.8.9 you need to download the Default Pack for 1.8.X.
Finally combining Five Nights at Freddy’s with Minecraft
I copied the whole pack, but changed the birch log texture and it doesn’t work (also how to make custom names for items etc.?)
find us_lang.json and turn it into a .txt file or look up a tutorial on youtube
I adore you!
if i download the 1.18 texture pack will it work on 1.8?
You can play with it, but some textures are not displayed.
is this compatable with 1.17.1 because i cant find a 1.17.1 default pack
It is compatible with every version.
is it also for 1.18.1 or just for 1.18 cause i want it for 1.18.1
1.18.1 and 1.18 have the same textures. Therefore you can use the pack on any 1.18.X version.
I like this
Clean texture pack!
Is it just me, or are the sounds not included in the 1.18 pack?
you cant get sound from a texture pack XD lmao dude
Is it possible to edit the langauge files for this texture pack? I haven’t had luck. I can’t tell if its because of it being a .JSON file or just cause they changed the way the file works for 1.18.1.
is it allowed to edit this pack? (my resource pack’s credits are in the splashes.txt)
This pack is a template and therefore you can edit the textures.
cool
my pictures were saved as JSON and won’t let me edit them, any solution?
download and edit them with “paint.net”
true!
the textures are in the textures folder
You need to change the file extinson you can serch on YouTube
so wheres the music file
It is just me or is this is a sample for new players to make a texture pack
it is
Hey can you make this for Programmer art?
thanks lol:)
good
Nor Paint or Gimp will let me insert the files, does anyone know how to fix it?
You can only insert images in an image editing program and not entire folders. The textures must always be in PNG format. A suitable file would be e.g. “block.png”.
Yea, that sooooo good for beginners like me! thanks!
TYSM!!!!
thanks!
I Realy Want 512×512 Or Even 4×4 Or 8×8
I Just Want A Higher Or Lower resalution
Please
A Texture Looker, The Minecraft Chicken

I Have A Slow Computer So Could You Have An Option To Only Download SPESIFIC Textures
This is not technically feasible for us.
Thank you so much
Happy! Now I Can Make Content On Planet Minecraft!!
Guys i am a kid i have never played Java only bedrock and Ps3 lol
Nice default template, i finished my pvp pack 😀
This is a huge help because i love creating minecraft bedrock pvp texture packs TYSM.
Isn’t there a bedrock version?
bedrock is trash
bedrock is not like you
you spelled your name wrong
Java players texture pack be like: High fps is better, even pack is ugly and has missing textures 🥱
bedrock players who managed to make GOOD texture packs every 100k subs: 😐
it is? thats funny. i usually get like 200fps fighting mobs in bedrock while in java i get 25% of that…
Yeah I also get 1000+ fps while playing pac-man but Id rather play Java cuz its better
+1
I highly advise NOT using Photoshop. Photoshop is a gosh-awful expensive program, and using Gimp or other free/close-to free programs doesn’t mean you’re a “lesser” creator, it just means you’re someone smart enough not to fall into the Adobe payment plan pitfall. Also, this base is a lifesaver, thanks!
Photopea is a great web-browser based one that I use for texture.
who pays for adobe
bruh its a great program, just dont pay lmao, i think everyone has collectively agreed to not actually pay for it lol
legit gimp and paint.net are so much better
yeah
thanks, this is pretty cool.
thank you!!
add the newest snapshot
they will add new verzion when it comes out
this is cool
What about the music files?
its a texture pack template if it was just a resource pack template it would probably include them
