Euphoria Patches Shader can be a great option if you want to enhance the look of your current Minecraft world. This is an add-on of Complementary Reimagined/Unbound shaders, aiming to add optional features and settings. The project is truly one-of-a-kind, with no comparison to anything that’s come before it. While extensions have typically been available for texture packs, Euphoria Patches stands out as almost an entirely new shader mod in its own right.
What Does Euphoria Patches Shader Mod Bring to Minecraft?
Being an add-on, it can’t stand on its own. You need to install Complementary Unbound or Complementary Reimagined so it can work. Unlike resource packs that dramatically change the look of texture in the Minecraft blocks, the Euphoria Patcher brings a smidge of touch to revamp the look of the world in terms of realistic effects.
Another impressive thing about this shader add-on is customization. Euphoria Patches, formerly known as Overimagined shaders, allow you to customize individual settings to change the visual on different biomes. You can select, turn on, and set the value of various visual settings such as aurora colors, star density, smoke, fog, sky, water particles, and many other things. By default, every setting is off. You need to go to the setting to change the visual, and it is a good thing, especially if you only like some parts of the embellishment from the Euphoria Patches mod.
How Does Euphoria Patches Mod Look?
There are several features that you can enable if you install the Euphoria Patches. The first thing is to change the look of lava in the Nether. Instead of just a monotonous block, it will transform into a patchy surface, just like a real-life lava with a nice dimension to it. You can turn on the lava edge effect, Nether sky noise, and soul and valley overhaul setting to display the effects.
Another different look is when you are fighting the Ender Dragon in the End. You can modify the number of stars in the sky and how thick the fog is. The End Crystal Vortex is another setting that changes the behavior of the energy beam from the crystal in the End. It is also possible to change the Dragon’s death animation.
In the snowy biomes at night, you can see the northern lights. There are some changes that you can make, such as the color of the lights. Various presets are ready to select, and you just need to pick one that you like. Furthermore, there is also a setting called aurora influence, which literally influences the surrounding environment because of the aurora. The ground color will change depending on the color of the aura which makes it more realistic and also entertaining at the same time.
This shader pack is quite demanding for your GPU. This means you probably lose some FPS during your gameplay. Luckily, it is possible to change the settings accordingly, so that the performance will not be affected too much and adjust if you think the game is too laggy.
The developer behind the project has also released Spooklementary. It’s extremely dark and transforms Minecraft from a children’s game into a horror game.

- Install Fabric.
- Open the Fabric installer and ensure to select a version that is compatible with Euphoria Patches. Click ‘Install‘ to set up Fabric.
- Open the Minecraft launcher, click on the ‘Installations‘ tab, and check that Fabric appears in the list. If it doesn’t, restart the launcher.
- Click on the folder icon next to the Fabric installation. This will open your Minecraft directory. Look for a folder named ‘mods‘. If you don’t see one, create a new folder and name it ‘mods‘.
- Download Iris for Fabric and move it your mods (!) folder and not to your shaderpacks folder.

Best Settings
You can choose between the profiles: Potato, Very Low, Low, Medium, High (Default), Very High, Ultra, Popular Settings, or Debug. If you are totally new to the pack, using the popular settings in the menu is recommended. There are some customizations that you can do such as changing the season, end crystal vortex, end portal rays, thunderstorms, and many others. It is also important to know that some settings are not universal. For instance, the Crystal Vortex only works on Iris, and it doesn’t work on MacOS or OptiFine.
The following settings should always be enabled for the best results:
- Euphoria Patches Settings > Materials > End Portal Rays: ON
- Euphoria Patches Settings > World > End > End Crystal Vortex: Vortex
- Performance Settings > Advanced Colored Lighting: 6 Chunks
