Data Packs and Behavior Packs

Data Packs (for Java Edition) and Behavior Packs (for Bedrock Edition) change the game without modifying any code directly. Behavior packs can change entity behaviors, loot drops, spawn rules, item recipes, and trade tables. Data packs, on the other hand, allow players to customize command functions, loot tables, world structures, advancements, recipes, and tags. Both types of packs are enabled on a world-by-world basis and use JSON files, making them easy to use and implement.

Resource Packs and Texture Packs

Resource packs and texture packs change how the game appears or sounds. Both terms are used interchangeably, but texture packs include only visual changes, while resource packs can also include audio changes. Bedrock Scripts and Java Mods

Scripts for Bedrock are custom codes written in JavaScript, allowing more extensive changes than behavior packs or resource packs. Java mods modify the game's code directly, offering near-infinite customizability. To install Java mods, you need a base foundation mod loader, which allows other mods to alter the game.

Optimization Mods

Optimization mods improve Minecraft's performance without significantly changing gameplay. The most popular optimization mod for Java is OptiFine. This mod makes the game's code more efficient, resulting in better performance and higher FPS.
