The great thing about the Visible Ores texture pack for Minecraft is that it is allowed on all public servers. However, read the server rules carefully if you are unsure. It will help you find diamonds, ancient debris, and all other minerals. Compared to X-Ray, it is a legal alternative that is very popular among players. Although you don’t get X-Ray vision, the addon is still a great help in caves and the Nether. The same goes for SkyWars, where you also have to mine ores. It is essential in this PVP mode that you get your armor and weapons together as quickly as possible. Therefore, it is recommended to install Visible Ores if you don’t want to waste time in the future. It’s even compatible with mods, such as Immersive Engineering.

Furthermore, you can play this Minecraft texture pack with all editions. Accordingly, it doesn’t matter if you have a powerful computer or a small mobile phone. The PC version is a bit better because the ores glow when you use a shader. Also, some of them have pulsating animations. You’ll see them even better and they look significantly better. Anyway, this is only optional and the Visible Ores texture pack works fine without any other programs. In addition, it is also a perfect add-on, because it just outlines the ore blocks. So you can play it together with other packs that include all textures.

Overall, the Visible Ores resource pack is a really great help for Minecraft players. There are many people who suffer from visual impairment and rely on such add-ons. By the way, this topic is more important than you might think, which is why we also showcased Faithless. This project is especially for users with color blindness.

How To Install Visible Ores Texture Pack

Here’s a tutorial on installing Visible Ores in Minecraft Java Edition. If you’re using Minecraft Bedrock Edition and the pack is available for Bedrock/MCPE, you can simply click on the downloaded file to install it.

  1. Download and install OptiFine, as it is required by most texture packs.
  2. Download the Visible Ores texture pack for Minecraft from the file section below. Pick the file that matches your Minecraft edition and version.
  3. Launch Minecraft.
  4. Click "Options" on the main menu.
  5. In the options, go to the submenu “Resource Packs”.
  6. Click "Open Pack Folder" at the bottom left to see a folder titled "resourcepacks".
  7. Put the downloaded ZIP file into your "resourcepacks" folder. Or, just drag and drop it into the Minecraft window to add the pack.
  8. You will see the pack on the left side of the resource pack selection menu. Unzip the file if you can't see the pack.
  9. Hover over the pack thumbnail and click the arrow pointing right.
If the game notifies you that the pack is made for a newer or older Minecraft version, simply click “Yes” to proceed. Most textures will still work.
  10. Click "Done" and all assets have been loaded.

Before You Start: Required Settings

Java Edition players need OptiFine installed to apply the following settings:

  • Load Order: Visible Ores must be at the top of your active resource packs list.
  • Emissive Textures: Set to ON in Options → Video Settings → Quality.
  • Connected Textures: Set to Fancy or Fast in Options → Video Settings → Quality.
  • Shaders: For the best glowing ores shown above, install Complementary Shaders and enable: Options → Video Settings → Shaders → Shader Pack Settings → Materials → IntegratedPBR+ Materials → Glowing Ores → Enable Glowing Ores: ON

Alternatively, you can use the Fabric mods Iris, Continuity, and Indium instead of OptiFine.

  1. The setup is a bit more complicated than with other packs, which you can simply activate without shaders, but everything is working perfectly for me

  2. Hi, I installed this for version 1.21.11 and it says it’s for the previous version. I installed the previous version and there’s still no change. What should I do?

    • You can ignore that warning, the pack will work fine with version 1.21.11. The creator just hasn’t updated the pack.mcmeta file yet.

  3. Hi Ben, the Bedrock/MCPE versions are heavily downgraded in almost all texture packs and can’t compete with the Java Edition. That’s why the download links for those always mention that it’s an alternative version, which may differ. Unfortunately, the possibilities with Bedrock are pretty limited, so Visible Ores for Bedrock only makes the ores glow slightly and doesn’t outline them. Also, you don’t need shaders like BSL for the Bedrock Edition, because that’s only required for Java.

    • You can still activate Visible Ores if you ignore the warning message. Make sure that you use OptiFine or the mods Continuity and Indium for Fabric.

  5. Hello, I am playing Minecraft on Bedrock PE with the latest version (1.21) and I have a problem opening the pack. You said to just click the downloaded file to install it. Well, in my device it said it “cannot open the file because the file is not supported”. Is there anyway to fix this, and is this coming from my end or the file’s end? I will gladly look forward for your respond to my complaint. Thanks!

  6. Coal does not highlight or glow even with BSL shaders. I haven’t tested any of the other ores yet besides copper which does highlight/glow is there a fix for this??

  7. I’m really disappointed with the pack I received. I have only two FPS, which felt akin to a PowerPoint presentation. Unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations at all.

    • You might want to consider upgrading your hardware, as this is essentially a default pack that modifies only ore blocks. If the issue lies with the shaders, then it’s likely your graphics card isn’t powerful enough to handle them.

  8. Resource pack works for the most part. Only thing I’m trying to get sorted is the glowing effect. Does anyone have any shader pack recommendations to fix this? Playing on bedrock windows 10 edition. Saw BSL in another thread, checked it out and it’s unfortunately not compatible with W10, which is why I’m looking for an alternative. Thanks!
