Making Minecraft Bedrock look realistic isn’t easy, but the True Realism HD texture pack gets the job done. The first thing you’ll notice is the stunning sky that looks way more lifelike. It actually reminds us of Dramatic Skys from the Java Edition. The sun always has a glowing, round shape and moves smoothly with the new clouds in the background. All the old blocky clouds are completely gone. On top of that, a soft layer of fog makes the world feel a bit more mysterious. The same goes for nighttime. Even without turning on the Vibrant Visuals mode, Minecraft still looks super realistic.
This pack is especially helpful if you’re playing on a low-end phone or an older console and can’t use Vibrant Visuals. All textures in this pack are 64×64, but you can lower the fog quality to 32×32 or 16×16 in the settings if your game starts lagging. If your device can handle it, feel free to max everything out because True Realism HD works well with pretty much any graphics settings. Unlike some X-Ray add-ons in the Marketplace that only work in one world, this pack runs everywhere. It doesn’t matter if you’re playing offline, on Realms, or on a server.
Another cool feature in the True Realism HD texture pack is the use of random block variations. This adds more variety and makes your builds look less repetitive. For example, a wall made of cobblestone looks much better because each block has a slightly different texture. It gets even wilder when it comes to the mobs, because most of them now have full 3D models. Villagers’ noses and cow heads in particular look pretty funny.
Some blocks and items might remind you of the Clarity texture pack, which is also made by Pathway Studios and available on the Bedrock Marketplace. The nice thing about Clarity is that it’s completely free for PC players. That’s not the case with True Realism, so if you like the style and you’re playing on Java, Clarity is a great alternative.
That said, we have to mention that not everyone is a fan of the True Realism HD texture pack. Some players say the name and marketing are a bit misleading. One of the main complaints is that the official screenshots and trailers make it look like the pack includes real shaders, like the ones used in Java Edition. But that’s not true. As soon as you see real gameplay, it becomes clear pretty quickly. Still, there have been complaints on Reddit and TikTok about this.
In our own tests, we found that True Realism HD still delivers a really realistic Minecraft experience for Bedrock and MCPE. One thing we especially liked was the wind effect that makes grass and other plants constantly sway. With future updates, we’re sure more realistic features will be added to make Minecraft feel even more alive.
True Realism HD was published on January 3, 2023 and is available in the Minecraft Bedrock Marketplace for 990 Minecoins.
